Dojo publishes a single rate for smaller businesses and sells or rents its own terminals. Here is what a Dojo card machine costs, what the monthly plans add and how it compares.
Published rates from every major UK card machine provider, plus the quoted rates that only come on request. You see them side by side, on your own takings.
The short answer
Dojo charges a 1.2% blended rate on all card payments for businesses under £100,000 a year in card sales. The Essential plan is free; Plus is £11.99 a month per location for new customers. The Dojo Go Max costs £149 upfront or £25 a month, Dojo Pocket £239 or £20 a month, and Dojo Wired £179 or £15 a month. Read 26 October 2026.
Published prices read 26 October 2026 from each provider's own pricing page. Quote only means the provider gives rates on request; we obtain those for you.

Dojo publishes its rate for smaller businesses. If you take under £100,000 a year on cards, you pay a 1.2% blended transaction rate for all card transactions. Blended means one rate for every card type, so you do not need to work out whether a customer paid by debit, credit or a premium card.
Above £100,000 a year the rate is custom. Dojo does not publish a figure, but says you can lock in your rate with a 12-month fixed plan or choose a 30-day rolling plan. Businesses above £5 million are asked to book a consultation.
On top of the rate, you choose a plan. Essential is free. Plus has a list price of £25 a month per location, offered at £11.99 a month per location to new customers and new locations. Dojo does not publish other fees: Essential lists easy PCI compliance (help meeting the card industry's security rules) as a feature, with no fee stated. Takings arrive the next day, and no payout fee is stated. All figures read on 26 October 2026.
Dojo offers each card terminal either bought upfront or paid monthly. The published prices are:
Dojo does not publish separate specifications for each model on its pricing page, so ask which one fits your counter, table service or mobile use before you order. If you are taking under £100,000 a year, the 1.2% rate is the same whichever terminal you pick, so the choice is about how you take payments and whether you pay upfront or monthly.
Every Dojo card terminal is paid either once or monthly. Prices were read on 26 October 2026, and the Go Max price is marked as a launch offer, so it may change.
The monthly options look small, but compare them with the upfront price. Paid monthly for a full year, a Dojo Go Max costs £300 against £149 upfront. A Dojo Pocket costs £240 against £239, and a Dojo Wired £180 against £179. If you expect to keep the machine for more than a year and can pay upfront, the upfront price is the cheaper route on every model.
Dojo also offers a contract buyout of up to £3,000 if you are leaving another provider, and says you can switch in one day. A buyout means Dojo pays towards the exit fee your current provider charges. Check how much your current exit fee is before you assume the buyout covers it all.
Dojo is operated by Paymentsense Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 738728). Its app, Dojo Sidekick, is described on the pricing page, with no price listed.
On £2,000 a month of card sales at 1.2%, you pay £24 a month in fees. On £5,000 a month you pay £60. On £8,000 a month, about £96,000 a year and still under the £100,000 limit, you pay £96. Add £11.99 a month if you choose the Plus plan.
Compare that with SumUp pay-as-you-go at 1.69%: £5,000 a month costs £84.50, so Dojo is £24.50 a month cheaper on fees. Against Flatpay's 1.49% terminal rate, the same £5,000 costs £74.50.
Now include the machine. In the first year at £5,000 a month, Dojo on Essential with a Go Max bought upfront costs £720 in fees plus £149, a total of £869. SumUp with a £79 Solo costs £1,014 plus £79, a total of £1,093. Flatpay, with its £0 terminal, costs £894. Dojo is £25 cheaper than Flatpay in year one, and £174 a year cheaper after that, on these figures.
This review uses Dojo's published pricing, read on 26 October 2026. Dojo is at its strongest for steady, small to mid-sized businesses.
Dojo's 1.2% is one of the lowest single published rates for businesses under £100,000 a year. Even so, these four are worth checking side by side, with figures read on 26 October 2026.
Paymentsense is worth a look only if you take over £150,000 a year and want bespoke pricing, since its standard fees add up to more than Dojo's 1.2% at most small business volumes. Teya and Flatpay are the closest head-to-head rivals for hospitality and retail.
Dojo's 1.2% is published only for businesses under £100,000 a year. Above that, Dojo and most of its rivals agree a custom rate, and that rate depends on how well your case is put. We compare the whole UK card machine market for your business, including providers that only quote in private. We take your real monthly takings, average sale and card mix to them and negotiate the rate on your behalf, so you are not comparing headline figures that do not fit your trade.
We then handle the switch for you, from the application to the timing of any exit from your current contract, so you are not left without a working card machine. You get a named account manager who stays with you after setup and checks your rate as your business grows. You pay us nothing for this. We may receive a fee from the provider you choose.
