Flatpay publishes its pricing and keeps it simple. It describes its model as a flat rate per transaction, with no subscriptions and no hidden fees. With the payment terminal, businesses under £200,000 a year in card sales pay 1.49% per transaction on all cards. There are zero monthly fees, and no PCI, chargeback or minimum fee is published.
Flat rate means the same percentage on every card. A debit card, a credit card and a business card all cost 1.49%, so your bill is easy to predict. Providers that price each card type separately can be cheaper on debit cards but more expensive on business and premium cards.
Above £200,000 a year, Flatpay offers a custom rate. Its UK page also shows 0,99% and €0 next to the custom tier, which looks like a display fault from another country's page, so we treat that tier as custom. Payouts are daily, with no payout fee stated. Support is available 24/7 by email and phone on +44 2080289990 or [email protected]. All figures read on 26 October 2026.
Flatpay offers one card machine on its own and three packages that add a point of sale system, or till. The terminal includes access to Flatpay's software.
Note that the rate rises from 1.49% to 1.69% on every POS package. On £5,000 a month that difference is £10 a month, or £120 a year, on top of the one-off onboarding and installation cost.
On £2,000 a month of card sales at 1.49%, you pay £29.80 a month. On £5,000 a month you pay £74.50. On £15,000 a month, about £180,000 a year and still under the £200,000 limit, you pay £223.50.
Against SumUp pay-as-you-go at 1.69%, £5,000 a month costs £84.50, so Flatpay saves £10 a month and you do not buy a reader. Against Dojo's 1.2% blended rate, £5,000 costs £60 a month, so Dojo is £14.50 a month cheaper on fees, but its Go Max costs £149 upfront. In year one, Flatpay costs £894 and Dojo with a Go Max £869. After that, Dojo is £174 a year cheaper on these figures.
The POS packages change the sums. A restaurant on POS Pro taking £8,000 a month pays 1.69%, which is £135.20 a month, plus £1,495 at the start. Its first year costs £3,117.40. On the plain terminal at 1.49%, the same takings cost £119.20 a month, or £1,430.40 a year, so the till package adds about £1,687 in year one.

Flatpay is most often weighed against other providers chasing the same small hospitality and retail businesses. Figures read on 26 October 2026.
If most of your customers pay by consumer debit card, a provider that prices each card type separately may come out cheaper. If you see many business and premium cards, Flatpay's single 1.49% is often the simpler choice. Compare using your own card mix.
Flatpay's 1.49% is published, but above £200,000 a year it moves to a custom rate, and other providers price differently depending on your card mix. We compare the whole UK card machine market for your business, including providers that only quote in private. We take your real monthly takings, average sale and card mix to them and negotiate the rate on your behalf, so you are not comparing headline figures that do not fit your trade.
We then handle the switch for you, from the application to the timing of any exit from your current contract, so you are not left without a working card machine. You get a named account manager who stays with you after setup and checks your rate as your business grows. You pay us nothing for this. We may receive a fee from the provider you choose. On fees alone, no: Dojo's 1.2% costs £60 on £5,000 a month against Flatpay's £74.50. But Flatpay's terminal is £0 and Dojo's Go Max is £149 upfront, so year one costs £894 at Flatpay and £869 at Dojo. Dojo's 1.2% applies under £100,000 a year.
