Worldpay is one of the UK's longest-established card payment providers. Dojo is a newer provider that publishes its rate for smaller businesses. Here is how their costs and terms compare, read on 26 October 2026.
Published rates from every major UK card machine provider, plus the quoted rates that only come on request. You see them side by side, on your own takings.
The short answer
Dojo publishes a 1.2% blended rate for businesses under £100,000 a year of card sales, which is £24.00 on £2,000 a month, with no contract on its free Essential plan. Worldpay's rate is quote only, on a minimum 18-month contract for online applications. Its quote tool shows indicative charges of £20 a month per terminal, a £5 PCI fee and a 4.5p authorisation fee (read 26 October 2026).
Published prices read 26 October 2026 from each provider's own pricing page. Quote only means the provider gives rates on request; we obtain those for you.
| Provider | In-person card rate | Monthly fee | Card machine | Contract | Payouts |

| Worldpay Source | Quote only | Terminal £20 a month (indicative) | Rental, quote | Minimum 18 months | Next day |

VAT is excluded where the provider states it. Rates are for in-person UK consumer cards unless stated. Our service is free to you. We may receive a fee from the provider you choose; it never changes the price you pay.
Tell us about your business. We compare the whole market, including the providers that only quote on request, and come back with the lowest total cost for your takings and the right machine. You keep a named account manager who looks after you after setup.

Worldpay prices every business individually. Its small business page offers tailored and variable pricing, and its online quote tool shows rates only after you enter your details, marked as indicative. What the tool does show by default are the fixed charges: £20.00 a month per point-of-sale terminal, a £5.00 PCI DSS service fee, a 4.5p authorisation fee per payment, a £20.00 chargeback fee and a minimum monthly service charge of £15.00. Online applications carry a minimum 18-month contract, with no joining fee.
Dojo publishes 1.2% on all cards under £100,000 a year, with a free Essential plan. Above that it quotes, with a 12-month fixed or 30-day rolling plan.
Published figures only, read on 26 October 2026, assuming an average sale of £20. Worldpay's transaction rate is quote only, so we show its indicative fixed charges, which you pay before any rate: terminal £20.00, PCI £5.00 and 4.5p per authorisation, the small charge each time a card payment is checked and approved. Tyl by NatWest is a third option, publishing 1.39% plus 5p on personal cards under £50,000 a year.
Dojo publishes each machine with an upfront or monthly price: Dojo Go Max £149 upfront on a launch offer or £25 a month, Dojo Pocket £239 or £20 a month, and Dojo Wired £179 or £15 a month. Tap to Pay on iPhone is £0. On the Essential plan there is no published contract term. Above £100,000 a year you pick a 12-month fixed rate or a 30-day rolling plan.
Worldpay's quote tool shows a point-of-sale terminal at £20.00 a month. It does not name its terminals on the pages we read. The minimum contract for online applications is 18 months, which is longer than Dojo's 12-month fixed plan and Tyl's 12-month contract.
If you are in a Worldpay contract today and want to leave early, check your exit charge first. Dojo says it will buy out an existing contract up to £3,000, which may cover some or all of it.
Both pay the next day. Worldpay states next-day settlement, shown in its quote tool as 24 hours. Dojo says you get your takings the next day. Neither states a payout fee.
Worldpay offers 24/7 customer support. Dojo promises a real person in the UK within minutes, or within 30 seconds on its Plus plan, without stating hours.
Worldpay's minimum monthly service charge, a minimum amount of service charges you pay each month, is shown at £15.00. Its PCI DSS fee covers the card industry's security standard. Its chargeback fee, charged when a customer disputes a payment, is £20.00. Dojo lists easy PCI compliance on its Essential plan but does not publish any of these fees. Ask Dojo for its PCI and chargeback charges in writing so you can compare like for like.
For a business under £100,000 a year, Dojo is easier to judge: the rate is published, the plan is free and there is no 18-month commitment. Worldpay would need to quote a rate low enough to cover its fixed charges, which come to about £29.50 a month on 100 sales before any rate is applied.
For a larger business, both are quote only, and Worldpay's scale and 24/7 support can be worth the longer contract if the rate is sharp. On £40,000 a month, a difference of 0.1% in the rate is £40.00 a month, which is more than many of the fixed charges. That is why the quote matters more than the brand.
Compare the full monthly bill: rate, authorisation fees, terminal, PCI, minimum charge and contract length. A bank-backed option such as Tyl by NatWest, with a 12-month contract, is worth adding to the same comparison.
Worldpay quotes every business and Dojo quotes everyone over £100,000 a year, so the fair test is two quotes on the same figures. We compare the whole UK card payment market, including Dojo, SumUp, Teya, Flatpay, Paymentsense, Square, Worldpay and others, against your real card sales, your average sale and the way you trade. Where a provider only gives quotes, we request the quote for you and negotiate the rate, so you compare real numbers rather than list prices.
When you have chosen, we handle the switch: the application, the paperwork and the timing with your current provider, so you keep taking payments throughout. You then get a named account manager who stays with you after setup, checks your statements and deals with the provider when something needs fixing. You pay us nothing. We may receive a fee from the provider you choose.
It depends on the quote. Dojo publishes 1.2% under £100,000 a year, which is £24.00 on £2,000 a month. Worldpay's rate is quote only, and its quote tool shows indicative fixed charges of £20 per terminal a month, a £5 PCI fee and 4.5p per authorisation on top of the rate.
Worldpay's small business page states a minimum 18-month contract for online applications, with no joining fee. Dojo's custom plans for businesses over £100,000 a year are a 12-month fixed plan or 30-day rolling. Read 26 October 2026.
Worldpay's quote tool shows indicative fees: £20.00 a month per terminal, a 4.5p authorisation fee, a £20.00 chargeback fee, a £5.00 PCI DSS service fee and a £15.00 minimum monthly service charge. The transaction rate appears only after you enter your details.
Dojo says it offers a contract buyout up to £3,000 when you switch. Check your Worldpay exit charge, and Dojo's terms for the buyout, in writing before you give notice to Worldpay.
Worldpay does not publish a Tap to Pay offer on the pages we read. Dojo offers Tap to Pay on iPhone at £0 with no contract. Tyl by NatWest offers Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android with transaction fees only.
Above £100,000 a year, both are quote only, so neither is better on published figures. Get both quotes on the same card sales and card mix, then compare the full monthly cost including fixed charges and the contract length.
