6 criteria, scored only from what each provider publishes.
Whether one provider publishes all five parts: wallet screening (checking a crypto address for links to crime or sanctions before dealing with it), crypto transaction monitoring, investigation tools for tracing funds, Travel Rule messaging (sending sender and recipient details to the other crypto firm, as regulators require), and case management with regulatory reports.
Monthly or per-request prices with the volume included, on a pricing page. "From", "starting at" and promotional prices do not count.
The published number of blockchains and tokens supported. A provider that cannot see a blockchain cannot screen or trace funds on it.
The published number of labelled entities or wallet addresses (addresses linked to a known exchange, service or criminal group) and how quickly new risk is detected and alerted.
An API (a way for the firm's own systems to send checks automatically), a web dashboard, self-serve sign-up or a free trial, and a stated time to go live.
Security certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II, and regulated banks, crypto firms or government agencies named as clients.
| Criterion | Crypto exchanges and custodians | Banks and payment firms | Crypto start-ups |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product coverage | 20 | 25 | 20 |
| Published pricing | 10 | 5 | 30 |
| Blockchain coverage | 25 | 15 | 10 |
| Attribution data | 20 | 20 | 10 |
| Integration | 15 | 10 | 20 |
| Security and clients | 10 | 25 | 10 |
| Criterion | 5 | 3 | 0 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product coverage | Wallet screening, transaction monitoring, investigations, Travel Rule and case management with reports all published | Three of the five published | Not published |
| Published pricing | Monthly or per-request prices with included volume on a pricing page | One plan priced, or part of the product priced | Not published, or "from" prices only |
| Blockchain coverage | 100 or more blockchains with a token or asset count published | One count published, or about 20 to 100 blockchains | Not published |
| Attribution data | A labelled entity or address count with real-time or daily updates published | One of the two published | Not published |
| Integration | API, web dashboard, self-serve sign-up or free trial and a stated time to go live | API with one other option | Not published |
| Security and clients | ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II with named regulated clients | One certification published | Not published |
Score out of 100 is the sum of each criterion score divided by five and multiplied by its weight. The overall ranking is the mean of the segment scores. Ties are broken by product coverage, then blockchain coverage. A provider that does not publish a price is scored as though the price were high, because a business cannot plan on an unpublished price. Prices are scored on the standard published rate, never an introductory, promotional or "from" rate, and a figure counts only when it appears on a pricing, fee or terms page rather than in a marketing line. A provider that serves one country only is scored on access for that country, and the limitation is printed in its profile.
What each provider publishes, criterion by criterion, with the date read and the source.

The index is paid for by nobody.
No provider pays to be assessed, listed or ranked, and there are no sponsored places. Providers do not apply: BCC selects the providers a business is likely to consider and scores them from their own pages. Any provider may ask to be assessed; the request changes nothing about the score.
Every figure is read from the provider's own pricing, product, legal or help page on the date shown. Providers may send corrections to [email protected]; a correction changes the page only where the provider's own page supports it. Every provider is re-read monthly and a new edition is published each October.
Identity verification platforms that add Travel Rule as one feature are ranked in the Identity Verification and Transaction Monitoring Index. Consumer wallet-checking tools, block explorers, tax software and smart contract audit firms are left out. Sygna is left out because its pages read showed no current product updates, and Bitrace and Coinfirm are not assessed in this edition because their product pages could not be read.
Ranked providers may show the index badge on their own site.
The badge is free. The one condition is that it links to this page, so that a reader can check the score and the method behind it. It is withdrawn if the link is removed or the provider leaves the index.

Nobody. No provider pays to be assessed, listed or ranked.
Public blockchains record every transfer between wallet addresses but not who owns them. Blockchain analytics providers link addresses to known exchanges, services and criminal groups, so a firm can see whether crypto it receives or sends has passed through sanctioned or criminal hands.
It is a rule set by the Financial Action Task Force, the global anti-money laundering standard setter, that requires crypto firms to send the sender's and recipient's details with a transfer to another crypto firm, as banks do with wire transfers. It applies in the EU, UK, US, Singapore and many other places.
A "from" or "starting at" price is the lowest price for the smallest plan and does not tell a firm what it will pay. Only a published monthly or per-request price with its volume counts.
No. The firm stays responsible for its own monitoring, sanctions controls and reporting under its regulator's rules. A provider supplies risk scores and tracing tools; the firm's policies and people decide what to block, freeze or report.
Every provider is re-read monthly and a new edition is published every October.
